Return to Workplan

WBS

TFQD is organized in seven WPs, four of which devoted to Research and Development activities. The activities related to the device fabrication and characterization are concentrated in WP3 (Active Material Growth), WP4 (Nanostructured Photonic Structures) and WP5 (Process and Device Development), that will be supported by the transversal WP2 dedicated to device Design. Once the device development phase has been completed, WP6 will deal with Space Qualification Tests and will carry out a study on Industrialization Prospects for the manufacturing of the device developed in the project.  The results of WP6 will provide input to plan at the end of the project an effective exploitation strategy well beyond the project duration.

As described if the Project Flow Diagram, the research and development phase is divided into two main blocks:

  • a first one (Material and Photonic Structures) dedicated to the design and optimization of the QD material and photonic nanostructures that will be the core of the nanostructured thin film QD solar cell, and to the preliminary testing of the TFQD device on small-area cells
  • a second one (Process and Device Development) focused on the development of the dedicated thin-film ELO processing and the complete technological process for the manufacturing of the device that will lead to the realization of the demonstrators batch that will be demonstrated up to TRL4.
